2024/25 academic year autumn semester
Training supplement to the doctoral school regulations for first and second year students
Online seminar weekly, MS Teams.
The lessons are in MS Teams Philosophy I. You can enter with a university code.
After enrolment, a code is available, you must take the Philosophy I course in Neptune.
Students with an MA in Philosophy or a previous five-year degree will receive individual training, in consultation with their subject leader or the Head of School, for whom the following timetable is indicative. Participation is not compulsory but is encouraged. For doctoral students with a non-philosophy degree, the following programme constitutes the completion of the 30-credit course Philosophy I. Participation in the seminars is compulsory and forms part of the conditions of fulfilment. The seminars are introductory and students are expected to inform themselves on the topics of the classes, to read and use the internet resources provided and the literature contained therein. The seminars provide the basic philosophical knowledge needed for the complex examination at the end of the fourth semester.

Accomplishment
- In-person participation in the online seminar.
- One essayof at least 3 pages, no longer than 5 pages. For the topic of most interest to the student: a summary of the work of an author or period and a justification of why the author or period appealed to them. The essay should be handed in to the teacher of the chosen topic by prior arrangement. The teacher will send an email to the head of the secretariat, Alexandra Haffner-Kiss, haffner-kiss.alexandra@pte.hu, confirming completion of the assignment
Submission: any time during the semester, until 30 November.
Once the certificates have been received, the semester will be accepted for credit
The lessons provide the basic knowledge required for the complex examination at the end of the fourth semester.
Research seminars ONLINE
Compulsory for all doctoral students.
Online research seminars are usually conducted in the MS Teams Philosophy I interface.

The core members of the doctoral school may organise additional research seminars. This is possible by further individual agreement.
On additional Saturdays, all 1st-4th semester doctoral students (whether or not they have a philosophy degree) will be offered a full-day attendance programme with lectures.
